Selah Daily Reading — Help & FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between "Daily" and "Read"?

The Daily tab shows readings from your active plans — passages assigned to each day that you check off as you go. The Read tab is a free Bible reader where you can open any book and chapter on your own, without a plan.

How do reading plans work?

Go to the Plans tab to browse or create a plan. Once added, your daily readings appear on the Daily tab. Tap a reading to open it, and tap the circle to mark it done. If you fall behind, a catch-up option will appear to spread missed readings across future days.

How do I listen to a chapter?

Tap the speaker icon in the toolbar, then tap "Play This Chapter." The app will read each verse aloud and scroll along as it goes. You can pause, resume, or stop at any time. In plan readings, you can also play all of today's readings back-to-back.

How do I highlight verses?

Tap the highlighter icon in the toolbar, pick a color, then tap any verse to highlight it. Tap a highlighted verse again with the same color to remove it.

How do I bookmark my place?

Tap the bookmark icon in the toolbar, then tap the verse where you want to save your place. Next time you open that chapter, a banner will offer to scroll you back to your bookmark.

How do I take notes?

Tap the notes icon (sticky note) in the toolbar. You can write a note for the whole chapter, or tap "+ Add" and then tap a verse to attach a note to a specific verse. Verse notes appear as small icons next to the verse.

How do I share a verse?

Tap the share icon in the toolbar, then tap the verses you want to select. A panel will appear with options to copy or share the selected text.

How do I search the Bible?

On the Read tab, tap the search icon in the toolbar. Type at least 3 characters to search across the entire Bible. Tap a result to jump directly to that verse.

What is Suggested Reading?

Suggested Reading is a daily chapter curated for the current season — Advent, Lent, Easter, and more. You can toggle it on or off from the Plans tab. If the suggested chapter already appears in one of your active plans, it will let you know instead of duplicating it.

What are reflections?

After finishing a plan reading, a reflection prompt appears with a question related to the passage. You can journal your thoughts in the notes section. Prompts are tailored to the themes of the book you just read.

What is Bible Journey?

Bible Journey tracks every unique chapter you've read through your plans during the current year. It shows your Old Testament, New Testament, and whole-Bible progress. Your journey resets at the start of each new year, and removing a plan won't erase chapters you've already read.

What does Auto Mark as Read do?

When enabled, scrolling to the end of a plan reading will automatically mark it as complete — no need to go back and tap the circle.

How does iCloud sync work?

When Auto Sync is on and you're on an iOS device, your plans, progress, highlights, and notes are saved to iCloud Documents. This keeps your data backed up and lets you restore it if you reinstall the app.

How do I back up my data?

Go to Settings and tap "Export Backup" to save a JSON file of all your data. You can restore it later using "Import Backup." We recommend creating regular backups.

What translations are available?

Selah Daily Reading includes the World English Bible (WEB), King James Version (KJV), American Standard Version (ASV), Bible in Basic English (BBE), and Darby Translation (DARBY). All are in the public domain.
