Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 13, 2026

Orville is designed with your privacy in mind. This policy explains what data the app accesses, how it is used, and your choices.

Data Collection

Orville does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data with third parties. All your tasks, appointments, events, bills, waypoints, and settings are stored locally on your device and optionally synced to your personal iCloud account.

iCloud Sync

If you have iCloud enabled, your data syncs across your devices using Apple's CloudKit. This data is stored in your private iCloud container and is not accessible to the developer or any third party. You can disable iCloud sync in your device's Settings app.

Calendar, Reminders & Contacts

Orville can import events from your calendars, reminders from your reminder lists, and birthdays from your contacts. This data is read locally on your device and is never transmitted externally. You control which sources are imported in Settings.

Location Data

Orville uses your location solely to calculate travel time estimates for the Time to Leave feature and to display your position on the Compass map. Location data is processed on-device using Apple's MapKit and is never stored, logged, or transmitted to external servers.

Notifications

Orville sends local notifications to remind you about upcoming tasks, bills, birthdays, and travel times. All notifications are scheduled and delivered locally on your device. No notification data is sent to external servers.

Analytics & Tracking

Orville does not use any analytics frameworks, advertising SDKs, or tracking tools. There are no cookies, no fingerprinting, and no behavioral tracking of any kind.

Third-Party Services

Orville uses Apple MapKit for map display and travel time estimates. MapKit requests are processed by Apple's servers under Apple's privacy policy. Orville also uses the Nager.Date API (date.nager.at) to fetch public holiday data for your selected countries. Only the country code is sent — no personal data, device identifiers, or location information is transmitted. Holiday data is cached locally after the initial fetch.

Data Storage & Security

All data is stored using Apple's SwiftData framework with optional CloudKit encryption. Backups you create are JSON files stored wherever you choose to save them (e.g., Files app, email). The developer has no access to your data at any time.

Children's Privacy

Orville does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The app does not require account creation and collects no personal information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the app and on this page with an updated date.
